    Armed Robbery: Walgreens

On Saturday January 2nd 2016 at 2055 hours the Martinsburg Police Department responded to Walgreens located at 101 Forbes Drive for a call of an armed robbery. Upon officers arrival the suspect, a white male wearing a green stripped hooded sweatshirt wearing a ski mask and brandishing a pistol, had left in a black dodge pickup truck driven by an unknown suspect. The suspect had gone to the pharmacy counter, and at gun point demanded narcotics. Walgreens employees complied and the suspect left with a large quantity of opioid narcotics. A witness, was able to observe the suspect truck’s license plate and relay that information to officers.

Upon checking the trucks registration information, Frederick County Sherriff’s Office responded to an address belonging to Monica Wilson at 140 Huttle Road Stephens City Virginia. There they spoke to Ms. Wilson’s fiancé who advised she had not been at the residence since 1600 hours. Once MPD officers obtained Ms. Wilson’s cell phone number, they were able to obtain Ms. Wilson’s cell phone location through her carrier, Sprint.

Again Frederick County Sherriff’s Office assisted and responded to the cell phones location at the Travel Lodge motel in Winchester Virginia where they found the suspect vehicle outside. The scene was secured and FCSO was able to locate a room rented by a man and a woman who had driven the truck. FCSO officers made contact with the lone occupant, Ronald L. Cosner, inside the room rented by the couple at the Travel Lodge. A witness had observed a man dropping items from Mr. Conser’s hotel window to the ground. FCSO officers located what was dropped and found several gallon sized plastic bags filled with prescription narcotics. FCSO officers also located the clothing worn by the suspect during the Walgreens robbery, empty pill containers, and a pistol in a motel trash can. The pistol was a replica BB gun. Monica Wilson was located at a nearby convenience store and taken into custody by FCSO.

Detective Albaugh and Sgt. Phelps responded to Winchester and interviewed Mr. Cosner and Ms. Wilson. Mr. Cosner gave a full confession to the robbery. Ms. Wilson denied any involvement in the robbery. Detective Albaugh has applied for Armed Robbery warrants for Ronald L. Cosner, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery for Monica Wilson. Mr. Cosner and Ms. Wilson are currently facing criminal charges in Virginia.
