MPD Investigates Vehicle Collision Involving a Train

On December 6, 2016 at approximately 10:34 AM, officers from the Martinsburg Police Department responded along with Martinsburg Fire Department personnel to the intersection of West King Street and Tuskegee Avenue for a report of a vehicle that had been struck by a train.

Upon arrival, officers observed that a passenger vehicle had been traveling west on King St. and failed to stop for a traffic signal that was indicating the approach of a train. The train was traveling north and struck the vehicle as it was crossing West King Street, pushing it approximately 100 feet along the tracks. The driver of the vehicle, an 89-year-old male, was checked by medics on scene and refused medical treatment.

Officers from the Martinsburg Police Department are currently working to complete a full investigation of the collision.
