    Martinsburg Elks Lodge Law & Safety Day 2017

    On Sunday, March 26, 2017, law enforcement and public safety officials from Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan County gathered at the Martinsburg Elks Lodge to honor 15 public safety professionals during Lodge 778’s 25th annual Law and Safety Day. Some of the special guests who helped to honor these outstanding officers and emergency personnel included Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney Catie Wilkes Delligatti and Colonel Jan Cahill, Superintendent of the West Virginia State Police. E.R. Nanci Hovermale, leader of Lodge 778, thanked all of the public safety professionals for their service on behalf of the Elks Lodge.

    The following individuals received the 2017 Elks Lodge 778 Award:

    • Lt. Scott Doyle of the Martinsburg Police Department
    • Trooper First Class T. W. Cook of the West Virginia State Police, Berkeley County
    • Senior trooper C.J. Hill of the West Virginia State Police, Jefferson County
    • Cpl. S.R. Smith of the West Virginia State Police, Morgan County
    • Cpl. Brian Bean of the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force and West Virginia State Police
    • Deputy R.L. Steerman Jr. of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department
    • Deputy Conor O’Shea of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department
    • Capt. Timothy Stapleton of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department
    • Firefighter/EMT Bobby Haun of the Martinsburg Fire Department
    • Sgt. Kenneth Morrison of the Eastern Regional Jail
    • Staff Sgt. Mason Vaughn Crowder of the 167th Airlift Wing of the West Virginia National Guard
    • Sgt. Derrick N. Smith of the Veterans Affairs Police Service
    • Cpl. W. D. Christian of the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department
    • Probation/Parole Officer Calvin Lease III of the West Virginia Division of Probation and Parole

    Captain Scott Dillon was also honored with the 2017 Special Recognition Award. The Martinsburg Police Department congratulates all of the public safety personnel who were honored by Martinsburg Elks Lodge 778.
