  • PERSON SHOT AT 149 N. QUEEN STREET

    At 4:37 p.m. today, Martinsburg Police officers responded to a 911 call of a woman shot on North Queen Street.  Officers entered Lupita’s Grocery store located at 149 N. Queen Street and found a woman, who has since been identified as the store’s proprietress, Guadalupe Bustillos, 64, of Martinsburg, laying on the floor.  The victim had what appears to be a single gunshot wound to the face.  Emergency Medical Services were immediately called and transported her to the Berkeley Medical Center for emergency treatment.

    Witnesses provided the police with a description of a single offender as a black male, tall, and wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.  Police searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect.

    The victim remains in critical condition.  Emergency Department staff report that she will be transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital for further medical treatment and evaluation.

    The Martinsburg Police Department believes that the likely motive in this crime is robbery and continues to follow all evidence and leads in this incident.  The investigation remains on-going.
