APPLICATIONS NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED

The Martinsburg Police Department would like to announce that it will once again be conducting a Citizens Police Academy, starting on February 24th, 2011.  The Academy will take place at 6pm on Thursday evenings at the Martinsburg Police Department and will be open to anyone over the age of 18.  Enrollment in the Academy is free of charge.  The aim of the Citizens Police Academy is to allow the public to gain insight into police work, the legal system and to familiarize themselves with problems that are in our community.   

 The course will cover such topics as criminal investigations, drug investigations, criminal law,  DUI, the Court systems, probation, parole and traffic law.  Participants in the program will also be given a tour of the Eastern Regional Jail, the Vicki Douglas Center and will be shown various demonstrations by officers, including weapons and K-9.  Class Participants will also be given Ride-Along opportunities with the Martinsburg Police Department.

 Anyone who is interested in joining the 2011 Citizens Police Academy must complete and return an application to the Martinsburg Police Department by February 21, 2011.  Applications can be picked up at the Martinsburg Police Department or can be downloaded via the website at www.martinsburgpd.org.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact Sgt.
